The Writer in Residence Program of Petőfi Cultural Agency is happy to announce a new venue, which is perhaps the most ancient cultural site in Hungary, Pannonhalma Archabbey, founded in 1001. After negotiations with cultural director Konrád Dejcsics, Archabbot Cirill Hortobágyi signed the contract concerning the establishment of a writers’ residence in Pannonhalma. While continuing to live monastic life and provide education, the archabbey will now also be involved in welcoming a writer in residence each year. The first guest in Pannonhalma will be author Ákos Győrffy, who will come in November 2021.
