Even if only for a short time, Argentinian writer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker Ariana Harwicz has arrived in Hungary and will spend a few days at our writers' residence in Pécs. During her stay, she will attend the 2nd International Tango Festival in Pécs, alongside her compatriot, the world-famous tenor José Cura and Argentina's Ambassador to Hungary, Hernán María Patiño Mayer.
The internationally acclaimed author, whose first novel was longlisted for the 2018 Man Booker International Prize, lives near Paris, and will meet her translator Dóra Bakucz during her stay in Hungary. On Friday, she will visit students of the Kodály High School in Pécs, at the invitation of teacher Andrea Futó.
One of the most recent Hungarian translation of Ariana Harwicz’s works, the short story titled "Un cerdo", was published this August on the world literature portal 1749.hu.
