Stevan Bradić comes from Novi Sad, Pécs’s sister city in Serbia and one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2022. A philosopher, poet, and university professor, Bradić has published two volumes of poetry and is editor-in-chief of the recently launched periodical Rizom. In an interview given at the end of the first year of the pandemic, he made the bold contention that it did not really matter to him that life was not going as usual, that we could not go to cafés or restaurants or museums. For him, what mattered was having something good happen to him at the end of this unusually challenging year. Being able to come to Pécs as the Hungarian writer in residence turned out to be the good thing he was hoping for.
